OMG I am watching LANCER!!! I found someone who sells DVDs of the entire series for like $25 on ioffer.com, so I bought it last week - after wanting it for literally YEARS - and I got them today!! I have only ever seen the pilot, which I watched on Youtube. I'm so happyyyy! I discovered the show through fanfic, strangely enough. :)  Anyway, this is going to seriously distract me from doing my homework...

So obviously I'm alive. YAY! I feel like I've missed so much in Livejournal Land. Any must-read stories get posted over the last 3 or 4 months? I don't even know where to start!

I got home from work awhile ago to find out that our 15-year-old Samoyed died today. It was definitely time and I thought I had mentally prepared myself, but you can never 'prepare' for something like this, can you?

Oh, HELL no! Never, never, never, never, never! Anyone who knows me know that I'm a chatterbox - my aunt called me her "chickadee" because she said I was cheerful, chattery and chirpy LOL.

How long could I go without talking? Well, I've gone pretty lengthy spans of time (a day or so) when I was the only one home. But I did still talk to myself occasionally, so apparently I can't go too long without talking. Or singing (singing counts, right?).

I do like peace and quiet, though. I guess it just depends on my mood. But I like to talk too much to be purposefully silent for long lengths of time.

I just got this in a forward from my former Spanish professor and OMG this is AWESOME! It's a 160-year-old musket that someone found in a hollow log along the Yellowstone River by Glendive, I think in February or possibly January. It was covered in bear or buffalo grease, which is why it's in such excellent condition.

Oh, and Glendive is in Montana LOL. It's a small town close to the North Dakota border.

I just got this video in an email from one of my friends and thought I'd share. I'd never even heard of this type of breast cancer - IBC isn't detectable by mammograms or self-breast exams.

My earliest memory is the first time I rode a horse. I was two years old and my dad put me on the saddle in front of him and we rode back and forth along the fence across from my grandma's house. We were riding my dad's horse, Renny. I remember that the saddlehorn was digging into my stomach or something.  I don't remember this part, but apparently whenever my dad tried to hand me down to my mom, I REALLY didn't want to get off yet, so we kept going. I ended up finally falling asleep.

Reminds me of last week's Supernatural....

ETA: Okay, I finally see the woman's head - normally! Before, I was seeing her necklace as teeth and the dark space as a gaping mouth LOL. Apparently, I am the only person with a screwy sense of perception. It's like one of those illusion pictures with the two vases, but if you look at it differently, the space between the vases looks like a woman and you no longer see the vases. I'm still seeing creepy monster mouth, in other words. I think that's what my brain expects now instead of a normal person.

My friend just mentioned the fact that the actor who plays Alec Hardison in Leverage is the same actor who plays Jake in Supernatural - the one who ( spoiler for end of season 2 (just to be cautious) )!!

How did I not put 2 and 2 together? ::facepalm::

Fandom is supposed to be our happy place. Why do stupid people have to ruin it for the rest of us??

I just found out that an awesome author has f-locked her entire journal, stories included, because of an incident where someone was "fandom-outed" to their RL world by a vindictive and also very close "friend". I have no idea who the victim is, but I feel just awful for her/him. Who does that to someone??

I'm also wondering just how many journals are going to be f-locked now and how many amazing stories are no longer going to be available to those of us who aren't complete fucking assholes. I'm curious to know if the person outed was a writer, too.

I'm hoping this blows over. It seems like there's been a lot of negativity lately and I don't even know what it's about. I'm just a peon in our little world so I really don't know what's going on 90% of the time, which I'm beginning to think might be a blessing.

Let's try and be nicer to each other, mmkay? A little respect goes a long way. Best wishes to whomever was "outed", even though this is probably an event that has completely driven them away from fandom. :(
